Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) has a new dining spot! Oyster House opened in late May 2025 in the busy Terminal B/C connector.
The popular restaurant, which has been a staple on Philly's restaurant scene since 1947, features fresh seafood, a raw bar, and a variety of seating options. The 3,600-square foot project was developed by Jackmont Hospitality Inc., an Atlanta-based food service company. Jackmont is also behind PHL’s Elixir Coffee, Federal Donuts & Chicken, and Middle Child, which is under construction, and RKA has been the general contractor on all of them.
The buildout posed several challenges requiring creative problem-solving and precision in the field. A 500-pound beer tower, delivered late in the schedule, had to be installed after the bar was complete—without damaging the surrounding oyster shucking station and millwork. The massive stainless steel oyster shucking station arrived in multiple pieces and was field-welded and polished on site to achieve a seamless finish.
RKA also coordinated the alignment of drywall, millwork, tile, steel, and other finishes of varying thicknesses to achieve a level, cohesive look. Above the seating area, LED lighting and acoustic panels custom-cut in the field were carefully integrated behind a curved wood ceiling detail. Adjustments to kitchen equipment, HVAC, and plumbing were made on-site to meet strict requirements by Philadelphia’s Department of Aviation.
