As part of a three-phase project at PHL, RKA remodeled the entrance and vestibule for Terminals D and E on the departures side of the airport. This remodel, which provided a brand-new facade for the building, was constructed in accordance with the regulations set by the City of Philadelphia and the Department of Aviation.
The scope of work encompassed demolition of the entire existing facade, entrance, and vestibule to install all new stone columns, sliding doors, and light fixtures. We also installed new air curtains for each of the sliding doors to aid with temperature control during the summer and winter.
The most difficult part of this project was completing the necessary work from within the barricades that were put up so that the airport guests were not exposed to a full construction site upon their arrival.
