Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is home to one of Iron Chef Michael Symon’s restaurants, Bar Symon. At 4,200 square feet, it is the largest eatery at PHL and serves up the chef’s signature comfort food to travelers awaiting their flights.

RKA fully demolished and rebuilt the anchor space in Terminal D, creating a vibrant new environment. A visible kitchen, island bar, and expansive 150-foot open-wall dining area highlight the kind of architectural elements at which RKA excels. Communal tables, banquette seating, and pub-height tops crafted from reclaimed bowling alley lanes complement the bold red pendant lights suspended over the center of the space.

Power outlets are available at every table and bar stool, and flight status monitors are strategically placed throughout, allowing guests to stay connected and track their flights as they dine.

Custom tilework and millwork accentuate the open layout. With no exterior walls in the concourse, diners enjoy sweeping views of the runway while they eat. RKA also installed new plumbing, HVAC systems, fire sprinklers, and kitchen equipment to support the restaurant’s operations.
