OY-YO ART INSTALLATION
WEITZMAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN JEWISH HISTORY
WHAT WE DID
RKA recently partnered with the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History to install a brand-new sculpture in front of the museum at the corner of 5th and Market in Old City. This sculpture was designed by artist Deborah Kass in a way such that when looking at the statue from outside of the building it reads "YO" to greet Philly in its native dialect. Conversely, when walking out of the building the sculpture reads "OY" which is a Yiddish expression to express frustration or worry.

UNIQUE TO THIS PROJECT
RKA coordinated with the delivery company as well as an industrial lift service to ensure that all equipment and materials were present at the time the sculpture was set to arrive downtown. Due to the scope of this project, SEPTA had to be notified so that their routes did not interfere with the work being completed in this area. All in all, the installation of this sculpture was executed as planned and now Philly welcomes a bright, new greeting to the streets.
